The vibrant and sharp colors are the result of Rolex’s special expertise, where craftsmanship combines with high technology. The colors created for the Oyster Perpetual collection begin with lacquer, which must be carefully applied in a controlled air environment to avoid dust and other contaminants.
The dial’s brass base is coated with six layers of lacquer to create a smooth, uniform surface. The final step is varnishing and polishing to fully bring out the brightness and depth of the color. Different engravings are then meticulously transferred and stamped, with hour markers and the crown symbol being hand-applied. The dial, sparkling perfectly, is now ready to be assembled onto the movement in the final stage of watch assembly.
Rolex uses Oystersteel for the watch cases made of steel. Oystersteel is developed by Rolex and is part of the 904L steel family – a type of alloy most commonly used in high-tech, aerospace, and chemical industries, where maximum corrosion resistance is essential.
Oystersteel offers superior strength and has an excellent shine when polished, while maintaining its beauty even in the harshest environments.
The Oyster bracelet is a perfect design in both form and function, aesthetics, and technology.
First introduced in the late 1930s, this durable and comfortable metal bracelet with flat three-piece links and a wide band remains the most popular bracelet in the Oyster collection. With Oyster Perpetual models, the Oyster bracelet is equipped with an Oysterclasp clasp.
